    Chief of Zephyrhills Police Department

    Chief Derek Brewer, originally from Merrimack, New Hampshire, moved to Pasco County in 1993. He began his law enforcement career with the Zephyrhills Police Department in 2002 and became Chief of Police in 2017. Chief Brewer holds a Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice from Saint Leo University, a Master’s in Criminal Justice Administration from the University of South Florida, and has completed advanced leadership programs with Saint Leo University and the Florida Police Chiefs Association.

    I have 40 years of senior management experience across various sectors, including strategic planning, fundraising, product development, sales, operations, and team building for both not-for-profits and tech companies. My roles have ranged from Associate Director to President/CEO, working with organizations of all sizes, from startups to $9B firms. I’ve traveled extensively across the U.S., Europe, the Caribbean, and parts of Asia and Latin America. I hold a B.S. in Business (Finance) and an M.B.A. from Duquesne University. Currently, I serve on several boards, including the Florida Coalition to End Homelessness and Leadership Pasco.

    Tampa native raised in Lutz graduated from Jesuit High School and played football before attending Florida State University. I earned my law degree with honors from the University of Florida Levin College of Law in 2002. Beginning my legal career as a prosecutor in Dade City. I am dedicated to helping injury victims, those in need of estate planning, veterans, and other individuals with disabilities.

    Hi, I’m Becky Finley, the CHIPz secretary. I’m originally from New Jersey and moved to Tampa as a teenager. In 2006, my husband Joe and I settled in Zephyrhills, where our four children live nearby. After working as a registered nurse for many years, I’m now a HEDIS Abstracter and stay active by volunteering in the Zephyrhills community.

    Working in the non-profit industry is a gift, and understanding the beauty of philanthropy is like no other. As individuals and community leaders, we have the ability and opportunity to create new beginnings where, sometimes, unhappy endings seem to have already been written. This is powerful, and I, for one, do not take that for granted.
